With 140 grn quality bullets I wouldn’t hesitate to take any non-dangerous game on the planet with it. The rounds scores high on my “1 rifle for hunting” rating, every bit as high as the 3006.

Actually with 140 or 150 grn Partitions, A-frames, or the like I wouldn’t be unduly worried should I run into a critter that wanted me for dinner. The .270 Win punches above it weight, it always did, and retains energy with the best of them.

Best of all its easy to shoot. Ive ran into many hunters who would have been better off with one then the magnum they got talked into buying. Its an American classic.

I love the .270!! Amazing round, and been serving Shooters well since 1925. I have my grandfathers Model 54 Winchester made around 1935 in .270.

Had the old Lyman scope on it refurbished and plan to get my first deer with this gun this fall in honor of my grandfathers great taste in guns and cartridges!

I have three .270’s total, all great shooters. If I never had another centerfire option, I would still be well served. Having the .270’s is why I haven’t jumped on the 6.5 Creed bandwagon- I just can’t justify it, even though it would be a fun toy as well.

270 Winchester

I found a new load for the .270 this summer with components I had on hand- 100 grain hollow point bullets with a medium load of H335 powder. These are easy on the shoulder and devastating on water filled milk jugs.
